Discover our language programmes, from the Early Years through to the final years of school, supporting students from their first words to their greatest achievements. In addition to perfecting their English, they have the opportunity to learn other languages including Valencian, French, German or Chinese.
Early Years
English and Spanish are co-official languages and languages of learning. This enables children to acquire both languages naturally, to the point where they can regard them as mother tongues.
Through playful experiences, games and age-appropriate activities, students begin to communicate with confidence in a bilingual environment that lays the foundations for their linguistic development.
Primary School
English and Spanish are the main languages of learning, while Valencian is incorporated as part of the curriculum.
From Year 5, students are introduced to languages including German, French and Chinese, and in Year 6 they choose one of these languages as part of their academic pathway, building a strong foundation that will enable them to continue their language development in later stages.
Secondary School
English remainins the main academic language alongside Spanish and Valencian. The foreign language chosen in Primary is continued throughout this stage, with specific preparation for official IGCSE examinations. In Year 8 students add a second additional language.
Our school also offers support for certification in other languages such as Italian, Polish, Russian, Greek or Arabic.
High School
Our international approach is further strengthened through the A Level programme, taught in English, consolidating a high level of language proficiency.
Students continue with their chosen languages, with preparation for official certifications and the opportunity to sit examinations in other languages too, maintaining an advanced multilingual profile that prepares them to access international universities and thrive in global contexts.
Through our language immersion programmes, each student’s individual development is ensured, helping them interact academically and socially in both English and Spanish. From the very beginning, theyt gains the confidence, independence and skills they need to thrive in an international environment.
Students have their level of English assessed when they join the school, through specific and age-appropriate tests. In Secondary, continuous monitoring is carried out through Cambridge ESOL assessments to measure their progress and ensure they succeed in IGCSEs and A Levels.
Non-Spanish-speaking students and those with lower English levels join our EAL programme. This two-year pathway supports progress from A1 to B1, prepares students for Cambridge exams, and helps them integrate confidently through assessment and personalised guidance.
Language development is reinforced beyond the classroom through exchanges with schools in the United Kingdom and ISP's International Learning Opportunities for Studens, as well as cultural trips to countries such as Germany and France, where students can apply their language skills in real-life contexts.
We work closely with families to support students’ language adaptation, particularly during international transitions, offering guidance and ongoing monitoring to ensure successful academic and personal integration.
The multilingual education that BSVR has given me, together with the dedication of its teachers, has been the spark behind my studies and aspirations. Thanks to high quality language learning, new doors have opened for me and I have been grateful to step through them without hesitation
