After your visit, you will need to submit the application form and required documentation and complete payment of the enrolment fee. Students joining Primary, Secondary or Sixth Form will also complete a short assessment in Spanish and English, so we can understand their strengths and support their learning from the very first day.

British School of Vila-real offers a continuous British education from Early Years, ages 2 to 5, through to Primary, Key Stages 1 and 2, ages 5 to 11, Secondary, Key Stages 3 and 4, ages 11 to 16, and Sixth Form, Key Stage 5, ages 16 to 18.

During Secondary, students follow the British National Curriculum and prepare for their IGCSE examinations at the end of Year 11. In Sixth Form, Years 12 and 13, students follow a specialised programme leading to A Levels, preparing them for higher education in Spain and internationally.

Throughout their school journey, students also meet the requirements of the Spanish curriculum, enabling them to achieve a dual British and Spanish qualification at the end of compulsory education.

English is the main language of instruction at British School of Vila-real, and the British National Curriculum is taught in English across most subjects from Early Years onwards. Students also learn Spanish and Valencian as part of the requirements of the Spanish curriculum. From Year 5, around ages 9 to 10, students choose an additional language, either German, French or Mandarin, which they continue to study throughout Secondary.

These languages form part of the standard curriculum and prepare students to take official language examinations in English, German, French and Chinese, with recognised awarding bodies such as Cambridge, the Goethe-Institut, the Institut Français and the Confucius Institute, HSK.

British School of Vila-real follows the British National Curriculum and is part of the ISP, International Schools Partnership, network, recognised for maintaining British educational standards internationally.

BSVR is also a member of the National Association of British Schools in Spain, NABSS, reaffirming its commitment to high-quality British education in Spain.

Through its curriculum design and examination boards, Cambridge and Edexcel, the school prepares students for IGCSE and A Level examinations, qualifications accepted by universities around the world.

BSVR promotes a holistic education that extends beyond the classroom. Students have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of sports, creative and intellectual activities.

Alongside a comprehensive extracurricular programme, BSVR offers International Learning Opportunities, ILOs, through its membership of International Schools Partnership, ISP. These experiences enable students to take part in virtual exchanges, international competitions and collaborative projects with other schools in the ISP network, helping them develop global perspectives and intercultural skills.

BSVR has a qualified nurse on campus and the school provides private insurance covering school-related accidents. Basic healthcare and first aid are available throughout the school day. For more serious medical situations or emergencies, established protocols are followed and local health services are contacted, ensuring students receive prompt and appropriate care.

British School of Vila-real combines traditional classroom teaching with modern technology to support and enrich learning. While students benefit from interactive platforms and digital resources, lessons remain centred on direct teacher instruction, practical activities and collaborative work. Classrooms are equipped with contemporary educational tools, and students can access online systems for homework, communication with teachers and occasional blended learning when needed.

At BSVR, Secondary and Sixth Form students use Yondr pouches, a secure system that requires mobile phones to be stored throughout the school day. This approach creates a phone-free learning environment during school hours, reducing distractions and helping students stay focused on lessons and social interaction.

With Yondr, each student keeps their phone in a personal pouch that cannot be opened until the end of the school day, although the device remains physically with the student. This system supports wellbeing and improves engagement by limiting the presence of mobile phones during lessons and break times.

The policy reflects BSVR’s commitment to a focused, respectful learning environment, while recognising the importance of mobile technology outside school hours.

BSVR maintains clear, regular communication between school and families through emails, the parent portal, newsletters and regular parent-teacher meetings. Parents can also use the school’s online system to follow academic progress and attendance, and to receive information about events, examinations and activities.
In addition, the school office is always available by phone and email, so families can make enquiries or receive support whenever needed.

BSVR uniforms can be purchased through the school’s official uniform supplier, accessible via the website or through the admissions office. The supplier provides size guides and advice, making it easier for families to choose the correct size and order the items needed for each student.

BSVR welcomes students from ages 2 to 18, covering all stages of compulsory education as well as Sixth Form.

Annual fees include:
